Book Review: Problogger by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett
So who wouldn’t want to get a six figure income from their blog? Well this book promises you the secrets. More specifically Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett offer this to the reader.
So the book takes the reader through the journey of each of the authors, with lessons interspersed. Many of which you will already have known if you have followed Darren Rowse’s blog or a while:
- blogging for income takes time
- build up gradually
- expect to take hard work and discipline
The book takes the format of:
- What is a blog?
- How to monetise.
- How to measure your hits and visitors.
- Niche Blogging - get a focus on your blog to get loyal visitors
- how to choose a topic - questions to ask yourself, and tools to use, before setting up a niche money making blog
- How to setup your blog - external hosted or not, and ways of setting it up and tweaking it
- How to write blog content: educate, entertain, inform, debate, news, community. Make content scannable. Use titles effectively. Various lists of hints and tips.
- Income and earning strategies: ads, advertisers, affiliate programmes, classifieds, merchandising, upselling to books etc,
- Blog Networks

- Meeting the user’s needs
So should you buy it? Probably not. Get it out the library. Instead read Darren and Chris’ blogs and pay them for their advice by clicking on a few ads.
Will this blog ever make me a six figure income? Never - I’m not disciplined enough to attempt it, and just in case you didn’t notice this blog doesn’t have the niche focus required.
